Sumac dip dyed patchwork wall hanging
A modern simple patchwork wall hanging dyed with leaves of the sumac tree at the bottom of my garden. The purple colour is achieved by individually dipping each square into a solution of iron. The iron reacts with the tannins in the dye to ‘sadden’ the colour.
